Description

The Hukseflux FTN02 Thermal Needle System is a field-ready solution designed to determine soil and soft-material thermal conductivity and resistivity using the transient line-source method. Available to rent or hire, it delivers reliable, standards-compliant results for geotechnical engineers, underground power cable installers, renewable-energy consultants, and research professionals who require fast, repeatable thermal characterisation on site.

Manufactured by Hukseflux, the FTN02 couples a rugged TP07 thermal needle with an integrated heater and precision temperature sensor, all driven by purpose-built control electronics and logging software. Once the probe is inserted, the system automatically applies a controlled heat pulse and records the resulting temperature rise, enabling accurate calculation of thermal properties in accordance with ASTM D5334 and IEEE 442 procedures. The compact logger stores test parameters and results for easy export, while the probe’s slim profile minimises disturbance to the surrounding medium, ensuring dependable data even in heterogeneous soils.

Returns

Equipment can be returned the day after use, but fees may apply for returns after 9am. To avoid additional charges, it’s recommended to return equipment before 9am. Returns can be made by dropping off the equipment to our Penrose, Auckland location, or sending it back via courier (return courier tickets are included if you received the equipment by courier).
