This unit is a Fibre inspection & test system kit, using an integrated microscope & power meter. Contamination is the No 1 source of problems in optical networks so this unit inspects fibre end faces either with a probe (inserted into the bulkhead) or the fibre patch cord end is inserted directly into this unit. In addition it accurately tests and measures optical power. It also includes a visual fault locator unit which emits a red laser light clearly visible as the light escapes from the damaged fibre.
